Country I Know!
Wanessa & Sarah 29/9/2017 In the second week of school we were started our first 5th class project. The project was based on “The Country I Know”. Everyone in our class did a project on the country they picked. It was really fun to do them. The children made their own posters. They presented their posters, and some of the posters were polish, romania, france and lots more.

The Alder class or (us) did a presentation about bees and it took place in our classroom. We did this because our second project had to be more major than our first one.It was very fascinating to learn more and more species of bees. It was fun to listen to other people’s presentations as well. From our google slides we created mini presentations by gathering info about things we did. This one was about bees such as- queen, worker, drone, bumble, honey. But in the end Ananya and Bianca managed to win and each got five dojo points each.In conclusion the highlights of my experience was that it was really fun even though i kind of didn’t succeed at the end but that’s going to wrap it up for my recount writing. By Ananya, Deivid and Oje: Three weeks ago petns did the elections and the whole school was involved! ! ! ! ! ! Firstly,In the student council the Alder class voted for Ankit,Deivid the reason why they picked Ankit and Deivid is because the alder class knew from the beginning that they were suitable enough for student council. Secondly,Were the green schools and the people that were picked for green schools were Ream,Bianca. Finally,Was the forest committee we picked Ananya,Mayra because as i told you already we thought they were responsible enough to have such an important job. The highlights:That you should always pick the people that you think is responsible enough to handle such a big job,and it was quite intense how it was unknown votes from random people but it’s one of those class votes that no one from other classes could vote for. by Kimberely and Mayra:
Two weeks ago, Alder Class learned a famous Dublin song called Molly Malone for homework. They got into groups and made posters of crests, trophies, footballers and Molly Malone herself. A presentation was made to show the audience a video. A flag was provided on the day and we sang in front of the whole school at assembly time. Luke could not attend but Lorraine set us all up. We then supported Dublin in the all-Ireland final that Sunday. For homework, we were given the job of learning the famous Dublin song 'Molly Malone'. We got into groups of two and three and made detailed drawings and posters. In total, we made an amount of eight posters, and one presentation complete with a video of the song. Then, on the big day, we all lined up on the stage in front of the rest of the school. Luke was away on the day, but Lorraine was there with a flag. Then, for Sunday's homework we had to watch the final. Luckily Dublin won. The highlights of the event were performing on the stage and drawing the posters. We thought the atmosphere was exciting, fun and a little bit scary because of the big audience. We learned a lot about Molly Malone and her job as a fishmonger. By Ream and Damian:
Yesterday, the Alder class met Bert the bird, and mayhem was caused. Firstly, when the freeze bell rang, Bert caused a big distraction by flying around the yard. Second of all, Bert came through the window in our classroom(Alder class) causing our class to sprint into the next classroom (Beech class). Finally, our teacher (Luke) caught Bert with a jacket to take him to the window. When alder class (us) were standing in our line Bert glided straight towards us, from the fence. The children were over excited by Bert. Later that same day when we were playing a game called Around The World,Bert suddenly scooped into our classroom (Alder Class). All the children in our classroom were terrified and screaming all over the class, we took over in Beech Class . Meanwhile Luke caught Bert in a coat and moved him near the window so he could be free himself. Bert stayed outside the window for almost a whole hour, leaving us a little present on the window sill. Every monday for seven weeks The alder class go out for bike lessons. Bike lessons are good for children who want to ride on the road. Firstly they taught us bike safety lessons. Secondly our whole class learnt how to turn safety without crashing. Finally we learnt about hand signals. Hand signals are very important on the major road. In conclusion we learnt fun stuff like turning corners. It was the best monday i ever had. They taught us how to ride bikes safety. i Recommend to take these bike lessons. By Zakariye and Bianca: Peace day and saw other classes singing and doing poems. After singing imagine, Luke (our teacher) gave us 3 more golden time stars, finally we had our lunch! We were so excited and nervous. We learned to respect each other. We recommend people to be more kind and nice! Peace Day Performance!
We would like to invite all families to attend our celebration of Peace Day 2017 with a performance in the Assembly Hall at 9am on Thursday 21st September. Classes have been preparing songs and poems and are looking forward to performing for you on Thursday. See you there! |
